WHO ARE THE BRAVE BOAT BOMBERS?

Brave Boat Bombers is a Tournament Softball Club from York, ME.  The Bombers anticipate fielding up to two teams consisting of players aged 9-12 years

WILL THERE BE TRYOUTS?

Yes, Evaluations were held on Saturday December 16, 2017.  Additional roster spots still available, please contact us for details

IS THERE A FEE TO TRY OUT?

No, there are no evaluation fees

WHAT ARE PLAYERS BEING EVALUATED ON DURING TRY OUTS?

Players will be evaluated on overall fielding, hitting, base running, and catching.  Pitchers and catchers will be evaluated on position specific skills

HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON THE TEAM ROSTER?

Each team will have 13 to 14 players

WHAT IF MY DAUGHTER DOES NOT MAKE A TEAM?

Players not chosen for a team may participate in all practices and serve as a team alternate at a reduced fee

WHO IS COACHING THE TEAMS?

Gary York and Sean Cleary will lead a volunteer coaching staff

WHEN DOES THE TEAM PRACTICE?

The team will practice on Saturdays starting mid-January.  From 1/20 thru 3/3 practices will be 7-8:30PM.  From 3/10 thru 4/7 practices will be 4-6:00PM.  Outdoor practices to begin in April, weather dependent (days tbd)

WILL THE TEAMS PRACTICE OVER SCHOOL VACATIONS?

No, there will be no practices scheduled over February or April vacation

WHERE WILL THE TEAMS PRACTICE?

All indoor practices are held at the York Sports Center (Soccer Dome) on Rt. 1 in York.  Outdoor practices will be held at Village Elementary, York Beach, and York High School

WILL THE TEAMS BE IN A LEAGUE OR JUST PLAY IN TOURNAMENTS?

The team will only play in USA Softball sanctioned tournaments.  There are limited softball leagues available on the seacoast

HOW MANY TOURNAMENTS WILL THE TEAMS PLAY?

The teams will enter three (3) tournaments

WHEN WILL THE TOURNAMENTS OCCUR?

Although the exact tournaments have yet to be determined, based on prior year tournament calendars, we anticipate playing our first tournament in late May, with the others in June or early July

HOW MANY GAMES WILL THE TEAMS PLAY?

Tournaments generally guarantee three (3) games, with additional games available based on game results

WHERE WILL THESE TOURNAMENTS BE HELD?

There are generally numerous tournaments available in our area, so we anticipate playing within a 2.5 hour drive of York.

WILL THE TEAMS PLAY ANY OTHER GAMES?

Yes, we anticipate the teams will scrimmage local organizations starting in late January through the end of the season both indoor and outdoor

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE?

For players selected for teams, tuition is $450.  Any player not selected has the ability to participate in all practices at a reduced fee of $200

WHAT DOES THE TUITION COST INCLUDE?

For team players, tuition includes all practices, scrimmages, tournament fees, insurance and uniform (helmet, shirt, softball pants, socks, and visor).  Practice only player tuition covers practices and insurance only

ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PARTICIPATION?

There are no additional costs to participate.  Player transportation and associated travel costs to and from events will be the responsibility of the players family

WHAT ARE THE AGE REQUIREMENTS?

USA Softball Maine bases a player’s age as of December 31st. U10 players are 9 or 10 years old as of 12/31/2017.  U12 players are 11 or 12 years old as of 12/31/2017

IS PARTICIPATION IN ALL TEAM EVENTS MANDATORY?

Yes, with the exception of reasonable absences from practices and scrimmages.  Schedules are created to allow for participation in Little League, All Stars and school vacations

WHAT IS THE COMPETITION LEVEL OF THE TEAMS?

We consider ourselves a hybrid team; more competitive than Little League but less than typical travel which mandates players commit to attend practices over school vacations and place priority to the team over Little League All Stars

Tournament entry level to be determined following scrimmages, but we anticipate entering the teams in U10/12B or U10/12C play
